Waterloo French Cavalry (Cuirassiers)
Tooled in 1969 and kept in catalogue till 2003 happens to it as to many other Airfix sets of the time, they were the first and only of their class for over a decade, but compared to what was done after, they just palide.
Despite of this the set introduced ideas seen later in other makers, as the dismounted Cuirassier holding the horse, clearly copied by ESCI in the 80s, and the nice idea of the fallen rider, because the horse has been killed, a complex figure (join of figures) not reproduced much more by future sets.
The set include nine mounted figures and two “foot” (dismounted would be the right word here) figures in eight different poses (a generous number despite the total number of figures is not). Horses are in 4 poses, including the unique poses of the fallen horse and the one standing.
It also was included in the Waterloo battle playsets.
